For 13 years, Texas’ biggest grocer has sought new products by calling out to their customers.
H-E-B’s “Quest for Texas Best” is a competition where locals can submit their Texas-made products to be featured on all of H-E-B’s Texas store shelves.
In addition to the in-store feature, the winner of the contest receives a cash prize. The first place winner will take home $25,000. Second place walks away with $15,000 and third place gets $10,000.
Last year, Tozi Super Foods from Austin took home first place, with their blue corn tortilla chips, tortillas and other Latin staples. Deli Spices from McCallen was the runner up for their authentic Mexican spice seasoning mixes. And finally, two businesses tied for third place: My Drink Bomb from Houston for their fizzing cocktail (or mocktail) enhancers and Spicytude from Dallas for their Indian spice mixes.
Here’s how you can enter one of the most prestigious food competitions in Texas.
What kind of products can go up for H-E-B’s Texas Best?
Your product doesn’t just have to be food. It can be beauty products, household goods, toys and more.
The only qualification is it must be made in Texas.
There will be online information sessions on the following dates for those interested:
March 18: 1 to 2:30 p.m.
April 8: 10 to 11:30 p.m.
April 15: 10 to 11:30 p.m.
April 21: 1 to 2:30 p.m.

How to enter the Quest for Texas Best competition
To enter H-E-B’s Quest for Texas Best, you will need to submit a two-minute video.
The video must include:
Your story and information on your background.
Visuals of your product.
Why do you think your product is one of the best in Texas?
How is the product made?
Where is the product made?
Applications are open until April 22 at 4:59 p.m.
When will H-E-B’s Quest for Texas Best winners be announced?
Once applications are submitted, H-E-B will select the top applicants to present their product in front of a panel of judges.
The judges will then choose the top four finalists in October in San Antonio.
