Freeport venue to host songwriting winners showcase

    The Maine Songwriters Association will have its winners showcase at Cadenza in Freeport at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2
    MSA announced the winners earlier this month: Skip Bailey for his song “Wildflower Bouquets,” Thomas Charles Clukey for “Freedom’s Calling,” David Dodson for “Glad About That,” Kate Fiano for her song “Forgive Me,” Julian Giordano for “Geoni August,” Ruth Hill for “Just Like An Angel,” Alice Limoges for “Hurricane Alley,” Doug Morier for his song “Him and John Wayne,” John Schindler for “Red, White, Black and Blue” and Sigrid Sibley for “Never Knew Love.”
    For the second year in a row, MSA had a record number of entries: 71 songs showcasing an variety of songwriters from all genres across the state. The 10 winners were chosen through an anonymous screening process conducted by an esteemed panel of judges. The winning songs will be performed at the Sunday showcase.
    Judges for the 2025 finals were nationally known songwriters Caroline Cotter, Griffin William Sherry and Tom Smith.
