EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Many in Eau Claire took a step towards ending the cycle of human trafficking Wednesday night.
The Eau Freedom Annual Run and Walk featured a 2-mile loop at Carson Park. Organizers said there was also music and vendors offering fair trade, or local goods.
Organizers with Fierce Freedom say they prioritize child empowerment, and link people with resources that could help them start their healing journey.
They say it’s crucial to shed light on human trafficking.
“It’s so good to be spreading further awareness of trafficking and exploitation,” said Kat Morgan, executive director of Fierce Freedom. “How do we create some kind of a web of protection and help those people who have fallen through the gaps? You’re not forgotten. You have value. You are loved. You are worth so much more than what has happened to you.”
Fierce Freedom also holds trainings for parents, law enforcement, and businesses.
