COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Music programs in schools have not only helped students earn scholarships to colleges and universities but have given them an outlet to express their creativity.
The masterminds behind those programs are the directors who make a difference, so much so that the School Band and Orchestra Magazine has named a South Carolina educator as one of the few across the U.S.
South Carolina native and orchestra director at A.C. Flora High School Jarvernique Tinsley was chosen as one of those educators who make a difference. He was the only one in the Palmetto State to be featured.
Tinsley came to WIS Primetime to talk about his musical journey and the impact he has on his students.
You can see Tinsley’s magazine feature here.
Tinsley also gave a musical performance using his violin.
