After platform sandals last year and ballet flats for a few months now, it’s the turn of another fairly controversial shoe trend to make a comeback this summer: transparent sandals, characterized by their PVC or vinyl material. A bit subversive, they quickly imposed themselves on the fashion side, brought up to date by a handful of cutting-edge labels, starting with Amina Muaddi, which has made it its trademark. Probably driven by the success of the trend barbiecore, which not only gives pride of place to fuchsia pink but more generally to regressive fashion pieces that seem to have come straight out of the dressing room of the most famous of blonde dolls, they are now available in a chromatic palette as neutral as it is downright pop. If in summer, we turn to colorful mules to adopt the transparent trend, it’s a safe bet that we’ll continue to wear them at the start of the school year, in a pump version – as evidenced by the silhouettes seen in the collection Alaia fall-winter 2023-2024.
