Thai Lyles connected on a 36-yard field goal as time expired to lift James Clemens to a 33-31 win over Austin on Friday night in Decatur, sending his teammates into a frenzy on the field. The Jets took the lead on their first and last possessions of the Class 7A, Region 4 contest.
“It’s amazing. It’s amazing. It’s amazing. It’s amazing,” Lyles repeated, assessing his game-winning effort. “We kept pushing. We started (the season) a little raw with the Gardendale game, but at the end of the day we’ve got to finish and that’s all that matters.”
