Eleven Michigan high school football players signed Wednesday to play for Central Michigan University.
CMU collected a total of 31 commitments on the first day of the NCAA football signing period, including 24 high school players and seven junior college players. Fifteen of the commitments are expected to enroll early at CMU.
Warren was a CMU hotbed for the Chippewas, with two players – tight end Zack Wagner and defensive back David Williams – coming from Warren de la Salle and another – defensive back Kameran Hayward – coming from Warren Cousino.
The other Michigan high school products included Traverse City West linebacker Drew Esper, Walled Lake Western tight end Lucas Hoffmeyer, Harper Woods defensive back JaJuan Jones, DeWitt running back Trav Moore, Holland West Ottawa linebacker Elijah Reynolds, Waterford Mott receiver Geno Seets, Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central defensive lineman Matt Sexton and Grand Rapids West Catholic offensive lineman Jacob Timmer.
The recruiting class was the first for Matt Drinkell as the CMU head coach.
