CMA Awards: Post Malone revealed as winner of major category ahead of live show

    Pour Post Malone a drink because he just won the CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year for his hit song “Pour Me a Drink.”
    The 30-year-old Syracuse native shares the award with country star Blake Shelton, who was featured on the song, as well as producers Louis Bell and Charlie Handsome.
    Post and Shelton were revealed as the category’s winners early Wednesday morning during an announcement on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” Host Lara Spencer shared the news from downtown Nashville’s Honky Tonk Central.
    The segment also announced the winners of the CMA Music Video of the Year award. Ella Langley and Riley Green won for “you look like you love me,” which was directed by Langley, John Park, and Wales Toney.
    The 59th CMA Awards are set to air tonight live from Nashville, Tenn. from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. CT on ABC, with next day availability on Hulu.
    Lainey Wilson will host country music’s biggest night. Kelsea Ballerini, BigXthaPlug, Brandi Carlile, Kenny Chesney, Luke Combs, Riley Green, Miranda Lambert, Ella Langley, Shaboozey, Keith Urban, and more are all set to perform.
    It’s unclear if the “I Had Some Help” singer will be present at the CMA’s as he’s not listed as a performer or presenter. He is also nominated for Album of the Year for “F-1 Trillion.”
    While he currently resides in Utah, Malone was born in Syracuse and lived in Central New York until he was 10.
